THE BEER RUNNERS CREST

The Beer Runners Crest is a badge of honor. Worn by the official chapters of the Fishtown Beer Runners, it signifies the essential elements of the Beer Runners' community: Running, Beer, Community, and Science.
Running - All levels and paces are welcome
Kutztown Beer Runners promotes the sport of running by welcoming all. No prior running experience is necessary, and in fact, you don't have to run at all! Whether you can walk a mile or run a marathon, you are ALWYAS welcome to join us every Thursday night at 6:15 PM. One of our runners would be happy to stick with you stride for stride, or if you prefer to tackle the route on your own, we look forward to seeing you at the bar afterwards.
Beer - Enjoy good beer in moderation
Kutztown Beer Runners encourages the responsible consumption (see Science below) of quality beer. With a focus on the local community, we suggest you finish each run by enjoying a brew from one of the many fine breweries from our tiny corner of Southeastern PA. Of course we're partial to our hometown favorites, Golden Avalanche Brewing Co. and Saucony Creek Brewing! And if you don't drink, that's ok, too! We enjoy the conversation and camaraderie.
Community - Promote friendship and community outreach
Kutztown Beer Runners seeks to bring out the best in everyone! By running together and celebrating together, we promote camaraderie and hope to build lasting friendships! We also hope to be a force of good in Kutztown! By supporting social, civic, and community organizations, we promote the good work that they do on a daily basis and try to help fulfill Kutztown's reputation as "A Most Agreeable Town."
Science - Promote the research of Dr. Castillo
Dr. Manuel Castillo of the University of Granada showed that, under the conditions of his study, water and beer (660 ml) had similar re-hydrating effects after strenuous physical activity. Dr. Castillo emphasizes that beer must be consumed in moderation, otherwise it can begin to have deleterious effects. Kutztown Beer Runners echoes this sentiment. We thank Dr. Castillo and recognize the importance of his research after every run by toasting, "To The Professor!"
Plus Ultra - "More Beyond"
Taken from the Spanish Coat of Arms, "Plus Ultra" symbolizes the Beer Runners' connection to Spain and how running has enabled many of us to go beyond what we thought possible. By being a part of Kutztown Beer Runners you are joining a community of like minded individuals who believe that together we can achieve more. Take that first step to whatever your goal is. Maybe you want to run a mile, a 5k, a half-marathon, a marathon, or an ultra; or maybe it is just to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people. Join us!
